Villa Suber

The villa is in Itri, not Sperlonga. This has been confirmed to the municipality. We were told, “Kindly leave the doors open, the area is safe,” even though we’d said otherwise. Burglars broke in through the door with a crowbar. We couldn’t identify them because the cameras were fake. There were at least a dozen grasshoppers a day, either inside the house or nearby, so I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you dislike them on your plate or in general. The stove runs only on gas. Bring a lighter if you want to cook, since only two of the four work. The flat-screen TV is actually a small United TV, and there’s also a Philips CRT. In the duplex apartments, the boiler doesn’t work on the first floor, so expect cold showers. There’s no data connection because of the hillside location. On the plus side, the residence WiFi is very good, the scenery is picturesque, and the villa stays cool in summer.

We stayed for two nights, and the property was extremely neglected, with untidy outdoor areas. Worse still, the house wasn’t clean at all. There were spiders everywhere, and dead and live animals in every corner, from the fridge to the shower. When I moved the nightstand to charge my phone, I found dead animals underneath. A nightmare!!

The apartment has two levels and two bathrooms, and the setting is lovely, among charming cork oaks. We were happy with how helpful and cooperative both the girls and the manager were.

I spent eight days at the villa and felt great there. The hillside setting between Sperlonga and Formia made for a dream of a relaxing break, with both sea and mountains nearby. I stayed in the sughereta, which was clean and in excellent condition, so I don't understand the comments about cleanliness. The whole house had air conditioning, and I relaxed more than I expected. If you want a holiday with both beach and mountain scenery, give it a try.
