Good value, about 15 minutes from the centre. There’s a Carrefour food shop nearby.

The building isn’t new, but the managers’ kindness, clean premises, and little touches that show they care about good service more than make up for any limitations. It’s also excellent value and close to the city centre. There’s plenty of parking on the local streets, even for large vehicles.

It felt like a disturbing place, with only the bare essentials and so many rules that it was more like a boarding school, or even a prison. The condominium building had lots of noisy neighbors. One posted rule said guests had to leave the place clean before checking out. On my last day, the owner came in to clean without warning and asked whether I was still there.

The worst part was the noise. You could hear everything, both inside the hostel and from the apartment above, and the night we spent there was really, really bad. The TV upstairs was blasting and people were shouting, while a couple next door talked all night. I would’ve liked to know what they had to discuss at bedtime when they weren’t even home. They were truly rude. We got so upset that we nearly went to the next room, and we went upstairs to threaten to report the neighbors for making noise so late. In the end, we decided to cover it with our phones and look up “white noise” on YouTube. We still slept very little and were exhausted while visiting Ivrea the next day. We’d needed that sleep to recover, and instead we lost a lot of energy. The owner should improve the soundproofing between rooms and report neighbors who make noise during quiet hours. The bedroom doors are also a problem: they’re missing the original glass and are closed with an absurdly thin piece of wood. I think the current type of neighbors is part of the issue too, though it’s difficult to know how noisy people are unless you stay overnight. Someone should be on site to keep an eye on things. The owner is a responsible, very nice young man, and we chatted for a while. He inspired confidence. He just wasn’t on site, and when we needed him because of the other guests, the time meant my boyfriend and I had to deal with it alone. We were there when the yellow zone was in effect. The room itself seemed perfect for cleanliness, bed comfort, size, and the bathroom with its hairdryer. But those two major problems mean I can’t give it five stars.
