Hotel Bettina

The room was a disaster: the floor was dirty, the bathroom was disgusting, and the beds felt like they belonged in barracks. The curtains, at least, were beautiful. Breakfast was the usual ham, cheese, pastries, coffee from a machine and juice. The woman serving breakfast deserves praise, though. She was skilled, cheerful and very nice, and kept the dishes and tables clean. The reception staff were average and did their job, and the location near restaurants and the water was absolutely the best.

I left feeling very disappointed. The room and balcony were dusty, and the hair dryer burst into flames in my hands. It was life-threatening, and we received no compensation for the distress. Since it was fixed to the wall and wouldn’t switch off, it kept burning until we turned off the electricity to the whole room. They moved us from a room with two separate beds to one with only a single bed, saying there was no other option, so I had to share it with my colleague. We checked out a day early. This hotel left a very negative impression, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Housekeeping seemed to be doing their best, which is the only reason I gave two stars. The hotel is really bad and should have been renovated about ten years ago. The restaurant staff have no idea how to treat guests, and the food is bad too. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The only good thing was how close it is to the beach. Our one night here with our 7-year-old daughter was a horrible waste of time and money. I can’t understand the five-star reviews. Never again. It isn’t even a one-star hotel. The common areas smelled strongly the whole time. Our two connecting rooms were dirty, and the bathroom stank. The terrace looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in years, and the cleaner left dirty towels on the floor. The terrace doors wouldn’t close, so anyone could get into our room that way. The air-con panel was broken, with wires and electronics exposed and touchable. The bathroom mirror was broken and just resting on the sink. The elevator control panel also had screws and wires showing. All those exposed wires were dangerous, especially for children. Breakfast was almost funny. There was some salami and cheese, two coffee machines and a juice machine, but only the juice machine worked properly. One coffee machine was out of order; the other had a “NO MILK” sign, so forget cappuccino or latte. You could only get some kind of brown liquid. The staff seemed more interested in watching us than helping us.
