Hotel Grottamare

Hotel Grottamare, July 2025 I came with realistic expectations for a 3-star hotel, but this wasn't the relaxing holiday I hoped for. The central location is a plus, while being a little away from Jesolo's noisiest areas. The beach was well kept, the rooms and common areas were clean and tidy, and the reception staff were lovely, helpful and professional. Our first-floor room opened onto a shared terrace facing the street. It felt like a real privacy and security issue, so we kept the shutters closed in case someone outside could open the window and walk in. Other guests told us they'd felt the same. Then there was the noise every morning from about 6:30, with cleaners sweeping, moving furniture and talking loudly right on that terrace. Not exactly a peaceful start to a holiday. The bathroom was another problem. The shower was tiny and uncomfortable, especially if you're over 1.75 meters (5’9”). Breakfast was repetitive, with the same basic ham, salami, a couple of cheeses and bland omelet every day. The atmosphere made it worse. A woman who seemed to run the dining area spoke to guests in a hostile way, correcting little mistakes in front of everyone. I saw her and others laughing about guests behind their backs. We weren't allowed to pick our table, and the whole meal felt controlled rather than welcoming. It didn't have the warm, carefree Italian hospitality I've enjoyed on my many trips to Italy. Everyone has their own preferences, but I wouldn't book again. If privacy, quiet mornings and a friendly breakfast matter to you, I'd look at other places in Lido di Jesolo.
