Hotel Halifax

The owners were kind, contrary to the reviews saying they were rude. The younger one speaks English very well and even greeted us in Lithuanian. The location is excellent, right by the beach, with a dedicated spot and beach facilities included in the price. Our room was fine too, with a balcony and air conditioning included.

I didn't stay at this hotel. I was staying across the road, but stopped my car outside Halifax for a few minutes to unload heavy luggage and drop off my girlfriend, since my hotel's parking was far away. My parents were also waiting there, and I wanted to greet them after two weeks apart. I wasn't trying to block the parked cars or be rude, and was ready to move if someone needed to get out. The owner came straight out, yelled at me in Italian and ignored my calm attempts to explain and apologize in English. After about 30 seconds he went inside, so I thought I could say hello to my family. Then he came back out with a woman, probably his wife, and they verbally attacked me and my family. They also made gestures as if they would damage my car. It only stopped when someone from the hotel across the street came out and told them to stop being aggressive, and I moved the car. It ruined my mood on the first day of vacation. I was willing to be polite and apologize for stopping there briefly, but they didn't speak English and were angry. Several local people came over afterwards and told me this happens often with them. After that experience, I don't think they'd be polite or helpful to guests either.

The good points were the location near the beach and having air conditioning in the room. Breakfast was okay too. But the hotel closes at 1 am and opens at 6:30, which wasn't what we wanted on vacation, and the Wi-Fi also shuts off at 1:15 until morning, so you can't watch a movie late. The staff only speak Italian, which made communication really difficult. After we got home and management read our review, they texted us twice, calling us “stronzo” and then “2 stronzi”. “Stronzo” means as*hole. We don't recommend the hotel at all, despite its location so close to the beach.

The staff were awful and could barely speak English. Air conditioning costs extra, though apparently you can download an app ;) They wouldn't let us leave early because the manager didn't want to get up early.
