Hotel Rex

Children are very welcome here, and the staff are friendly and speak Italian, German, English, French, and Russian. We stayed for a week and paid for two double rooms with three beds, three meals a day, and a beach spot with two chairs and an umbrella. The hotel is about 50m from the beach, and our rooms looked out to sea. Breakfast was good, while lunch and dinner were great. At dinner you choose the next day's menu, with four kinds of dishes to pick from. You get a first course and a second course, with salad between them and dessert at the end. Sometimes I couldn't finish all the food. Drinks were cheap and tasty, and the coffee was great.

The restaurant is good, and the price feels fair and affordable. The beach is very close, the rooms are big and comfortable, and the location is perfect. The people are lovely and always ready to help or bring you what you need. There are lots of buses to Venezia and elsewhere. I'd recommend it with love.

The balcony and the view were what I enjoyed most, and the coffee downstairs was lovely too. This was probably my favorite place we stayed in Italy, for some pretty odd reasons. The rooms are TINY, and our bathroom was even tinier, but I liked that. It's nothing like a room in the States, which I'm sure annoys a lot of people. The walls are thin, there's no elevator, and the beds are maybe 3 inches apart. I didn't mind. I skipped the pier, though lots of people in our group went. One thing for groups to know, the hot water isn't unlimited, so stagger your showers.

The food was plentiful and tasty, and full board is available at pretty affordable prices. The hotel is conveniently located half a block from the beach. The rooms badly need an upgrade, though. The bathroom plumbing is very old and doesn't work well. You either get a burning hot shower or a cold one with low flow. The mattresses and bed bases are so outdated that it's hard to get up without a backache. With proper updates, this could be one of the best places to stay.
