Hotel Smeraldo

I paid for dinner and left a tip, but left Hotel Smeraldo’s restaurant in Jesolo feeling shocked and deeply upset. The meal itself was mediocre, though the prices were affordable, the atmosphere pleasant, and most staff were friendly and helpful. One person’s behavior overshadowed all of that. When I arrived, a staff member took my umbrella and put it in the stand by the entrance. It had disappeared by the time I was leaving. I told a staff member, who was rude and dismissive, basically telling me it was my problem and I should have watched it. I asked to speak with someone else, but they brushed me off too, saying there was nothing they could do. Someone eventually handed me a different umbrella and sarcastically called it a gift. The top came off the handle as soon as I opened it. I bought a replacement at a nearby shop and left the broken umbrella behind. Then the same staff member followed me outside, confronted me in an aggressive, intimidating tone, and demanded to know where the broken umbrella was. After I said it had broken, he took another umbrella back into the restaurant, just to remove it, and walked away with a cold, sarcastic “Thanks.” I felt completely disrespected and treated with hostility despite having paid and supported the business in good faith. I regret the time and money I spent there and will never return. I strongly urge management to address what happened and reconsider how some staff treat paying guests.
