The balcony and sea view were a real plus, and our room was roomy with a comfortable bed, even if it was a little worn. The breakfast room also has a pleasant view, and breakfast was decent overall. Coffee is made to order on a professional machine, which was great. There’s a pool, though we didn’t get to use it. The hotel itself is fairly well kept, with a few marks and imperfections. Noise was a real issue. We could hear neighbors in the bathroom, and sounds from the restaurant and shared spaces carried into the room, making it hard to fall asleep. The cleaning product left a strong alcohol and vinegar smell, so we had to air out the room after housekeeping. The bathrooms need better upkeep, with mold in the shower, and screens or electric repellents on the balcony doors would help. I wouldn’t sleep with the doors open unless you want mosquitoes everywhere. The breakfast staff member was very nice and funny in his own way, but he was handling coffee from the bar downstairs, food refills, and clearing tables by himself. Food often ran out, so sometimes toast had only one topping left, and finding a clean table meant waiting. He could really use help; it’s too much for one person. Getting there may be difficult for some drivers. The narrow, steep, bumpy winding road didn’t bother me much, though I can see people struggling, especially after dark. Parking was often crowded in the evening, and cars sometimes blocked one another. Housekeeping also left a bag of garbage outside our door for two days, which wasn’t cool. There are quite a few drawbacks, but for the price, I think four stars is fair.

Tropea is close by and really beautiful, and other beaches are just a short drive away. The ocean is only a little way down the road, and it was still warm enough to swim in early November. I spent a week here then, with lovely weather and great value. Breakfast was very good, and the full-board dinner was filling. The staff were excellent, and the host was a genuinely nice person who was always ready to help. Thanks for a special holiday 💗.

We spent four nights at Hotel Mercurio sul Mare. We didn’t get the room we’d booked, but they gave us a larger apartment instead. It was missing some amenities, though it was still good. The staff were friendly and helpful.

A really nice family hotel with tasty restaurant food and very friendly, helpful staff. The balcony is large, the view and location are good, and parking was convenient. It’s dog-friendly and the Wi-Fi worked well. Good value, too.
