Hotel Fiordigigli

After our daily motorbike tour, they welcomed us with canapes, a lovely touch. I was there last week with a motorbike group, and the hospitality was great. The staff were always courteous, and the stewards had a good sense of humor. Dinner was very good Italian food. Looking forward to coming back. Cheers!

The view of the mountain from our room was hard to beat. The rooms are cozy, and the staff are friendly and really helpful. This little town has lots of cyclists and day visitors passing through, which gives it plenty of energy. Fiordigigli is the green building on the right. It's at the foot of the mountain, with easy access to the top. You can get here by bus from Fonte Cerreto, though buses aren't very frequent, and you need to buy your ticket in advance.

The Funivia del Gran Sasso D'Italia runs wonderfully from the base up to Campo Imperatore. A return ticket for a family of four was about €30. It's often chilly and windy up there, so dress for it. There's enough parking near the ticket counter, and regular buses drop off and pick up there too. The hotel is close to the Gran Sasso funivia. The rooms are well kept, and breakfast was good, though there aren't many good restaurants or bars nearby. You can park on the road or behind the hotel by the funivia ticket counter. Check-in and checkout were quick, and the front desk responded fast when I had questions and needed the booking confirmed.

The food was awesome and everyone was really nice. When we left, there was no hot water that morning, so they took some money off our stay. The bathroom had a cigarette smell at first, but it got better after we let it air out.
