The atmosphere here is calm, and the staff were helpful and courteous. La Dimora del Baco is in a peaceful area but still close to the center of L’Aquila, which is convenient. My room was spacious and modern, with a simple, clean style. The bathroom and shower were large and well kept. A solid choice if you want room to spread out, quiet, and easy access to the city.

We tried to sleep with the window open, but a live band playing loudly for a wedding at the hotel made that impossible. The stay was miserable. The room was around 80 degrees Fahrenheit when we arrived, and switching on the A/C and lowering the setting made no difference after about 20 minutes. We checked in around 5pm on Sept. 16, after a smooth arrival at an attractive, modern hotel. The receptionist was kind and professional. I hadn't thought I needed to ask whether a hotel advertising air-conditioning on Booking.com and its own website actually made it available all day. The hotel said the municipality of L'Aquila restricts this private business from running A/C, and heating in winter, whenever needed. I was told it only ran from 6pm to 9pm. We went out for dinner and came back around 10pm. The room had been 25 degrees Celsius and, five hours later, was only down to 24; the A/C had stopped after 9pm. Neither Booking.com nor Hotel La Dimora del Baco mentions on its website that air-conditioning is available only for those very limited hours. I contacted Booking.com three times about it and got no response.
