We had to check in late because of a state strike, and the kind hosts explained the self check-in clearly. On our last morning we needed to leave early, so the owner prepared sandwiches, water, and lots of other things for us. I absolutely recommend this place.

The rooms have been renovated and are very comfortable, and the staff are friendly. They shared plenty of local tips so we could feel more like locals than tourists. I also liked being able to choose breakfast to suit my preferences. The hotel is in a special spot high above La Spezia, with beautiful views across the whole city by day and at night. The one drawback if you're driving is parking: there's no space available apart from parking along the main street.

We could park here, and the staff were friendly in a pleasant atmosphere. There's the option of room service and an intercontinental breakfast. The location above La Spezia harbor has a great view. Highly recommended.

88 Miglia sits high up at the end of a dead-end road, so you'll need GPS to find it. It's a quiet spot for relaxing away from people, with a unique view of the area and the port, and parking in front of the property. The house isn't new, but it's been renovated and cared for so well that it looks as if it was built this year. It's clean, and the bathroom has everything you need. There isn't breakfast, though there is a machine for making coffee. I also want to thank the owner, who had her father wait for us when we arrived late for check-in. The next day she gave us useful information about sights nearby. We stayed in 12 hotels on a 15-day trip around Italy. All offered a private room and bathroom, breakfast, a central location, and parking. Two four-star hotels in Salerno and Bologna cost 50 euros a night and had full service and generous breakfasts. My favorite was a villa in Siena for 57 euros a night, filled with artwork and decorated down to every corner. It had an amazing antique bed, the best mattress of all our stays, and a generous breakfast the owner prepared with love, with lovely music and candles on the table. I can't forget those places, and it would feel disrespectful to rate 88 Miglia above the three best accommodations I mentioned, which won my heart. My review takes into account what was offered at all 12 hotels as well as those three.
