Aparthotel 3 Stars Riomaggiore

It felt like a little oasis, and this was definitely my favorite area to stay in. The view made all those stairs down to the rooms worth it. The bus comes often, so getting into Riomaggiore is easy, and after visiting the towns we were glad to be away from the beaten path. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean and nice. We were only missing a few wine glasses and a bottle opener. Highly recommend!

The room was neat and clean, and the area is beautiful. But the car park is at the top of a steep hill, and the only way up is on foot unless someone gives you a ride. Going down was manageable for me at 75, with two hip replacements and a bad knee. We wouldn’t have booked here if the hotel description had mentioned the climb. Residents can park at the bottom and along the sides, but the hotel hadn’t arranged any help getting uphill. It took a long WhatsApp exchange before management mentioned a park bus, but they couldn’t tell me where or when it ran, how much it cost, or its route. Someone at a restaurant explained that a white van picks up in the City center for 2.5 Euros, and you can ask to be let off near the parking lot. I ended up walking, then a very kind resident saw me and drove me up. That finally took the stress away.

The view was lovely, but the fish we ordered tasted frozen and wasn’t fresh or tasty. We told the waiter we didn’t like the dish, and he said there was nothing he could do. We won’t return or recommend the place.

After a long day visiting the villages of cinque terre, we wanted a romantic view for dinner, though we were staying at a nearby hotel. The setting was beautiful, the service very kind, and the food delicious! I haven’t seen the rooms, but I suppose they must be good for a 4-5 star rating.
