Villa Raffaela B&B

My stay here spoiled my whole impression of Ischia. It was my worst hotel experience ever. The service was awful and the place disgusting, not recommended. The staff were unfriendly and hypocritical, and not helpful at all. The room was unbearably hot, like a furnace, because there was only a fan and no air conditioning. There was no refrigerator in the room or public area, so nowhere to chill even a bottle of water or wine. Ants were crawling on the breakfast tables and all over the room. The furniture was very old, and one bedside lamp didn't work. The terrace was cleaned once when we arrived, then left dirty for the rest of the stay. The bathroom fixtures were very old and rusty, including the sink, toilet, bidet, and shower. The room door locks were also rusty and so old they would jam and stop opening or closing. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable, as if the mattress were filled with old straw and twigs. Breakfast was very poor: wilted, not fresh tomatoes, a pie made from old, half-eaten pasta with eggs, and coffee that was disgusting and had nothing to do with this noble drink, more like slop. Dinner was expensive with very little choice. Toiletries were provided only once on arrival, despite the facilities description clearly saying free toiletries were provided. That didn't match reality.

Breakfast was delicious and the view from the dining area was great. Getting back up from the beach meant a very steep, high walk. The bathroom was disappointing, dirty, and had a leaking shower that left water all over the floor each day. The toilet wasn't fixed properly and rocked around. There was no ventilation, not even a fan, and WiFi was only available with very poor reception in the dining area. We had two single beds pushed together, and they slid apart every night. There was no kettle, and the gas stove didn't work.

The view was really nice and breakfast was good. Service was good too. Everything worked well for us, and we'll come back.
