Rochester Classie

The view is beautiful and there are lots of parking spaces, but I can't recommend the place. The pool was dirty, the beds were awful and I could feel every spring. The bathroom floor had hair on it, and there was only one toilet roll for three people. We booked through booking.com thinking we were getting the whole house, but got only half. The small room's window is bricked up except for tiny breathing holes, so it feels like a prison. We couldn't even play music because of some boomer neighbors. We paid the tourism tax through booking, and the landlord charged us again.

The place itself is in good condition, and Greta gave us a nice check-in. But the hospitality was poor, and we won't return. We rented the biggest apartment for eight people at €200 a night, yet our friends who recommended it and were staying 250m away were kicked out when they came to visit. There was room nearby, but guests weren't welcome, and we weren't allowed to invite them to the pool either, which only two other families were using. The explanation that we'd disturb those guests was hard to accept. The pool also closes at 7pm, too early if you want a swim after sightseeing in Tuscany. We reported a toilet that wasn't working and were told it would be fixed, but it wasn't. Air conditioning cost extra on top of the nightly rate. It was embarrassing in front of our friends, especially since we'd chosen the place because they were nearby. The owner could have handled the situation differently. A shame to see a place like this let down by basic hospitality. Poor value for money.

We had a great stay in Gloria and Andrea's apartment. They're really friendly, and the surroundings are beautiful and peaceful.

The pool is shared, which wasn't mentioned online, and the air conditioning doesn't work.
