La Locanda del Notaio

We’ll miss this place. It was a lovely break from the busy, hot lakeside villages, and being a little higher up made it a few degrees cooler. The gardens and grounds are magnificent, the setting is quiet, and the views are great. We couldn’t find anything to fault. The staff were EXCELLENT, always ready to help with questions or find a solution. Serena and Tomazo were especially good, 10/10. Our room was clean and well kept, with quality furniture, a comfortable bed, a great bathroom, good towels, a nice range of soaps and toiletries, and a minibar with plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices. We didn’t get to try the restaurant, though we wanted to. It seems to be aiming for a Michelin star.

Everything we tried was excellent, and the service was great, with each dish explained to us. The food was high quality and beautifully presented, pairing local flavors with some interesting touches. The restaurant also has a lovely setting overlooking a large garden. Highly recommended!

We came for Easter dinner with three generations of family, including two young children. We didn’t stay at the hotel, but the meal was outstanding, and the children’s food came quickly. The elegant setting and beautiful grounds were lovely, too. After a welcome glass of bubbly, we had a poached egg with fondue sauce, fresh spinach and wild hops, then smoked black cabbage risotto and grilled beef with asparagus and spring onions. Dessert was a dove-shaped, crispy semifreddo filled with Easter cake Columba and topped with baked meringue. Service was impeccable, the wine pairing fantastic. Highly recommended!

We stayed for three nights, and the hotel was clean, with nice rooms and a good location. The staff were really kind and willing to help, even though they seemed young. We also had a great dinner there, with traditional food served in a delicate way. We loved it!
