The room was in a bad state, with a moldy smell, filthy curtains, and ceilings that were peeling and leaking. Bulbs hung from their wires, and lifting the tablecloth during lunch exposed a heavy, musty, rotten smell from the wooden tabletop. The glassware was in terrible condition and the dishes were worn. I stayed through it because my whole family was with me. We had the Easter menu. Most of the food was decent and unpretentious, but the shrimp starter in pink sauce was clearly the discount-store kind, small and tasteless. When I asked for more grated cheese for 13 people, the waiter reacted nervously, said the allowance was 5g per person, and walked away. There had been just one 50g jar for all of us. Later, when I asked for a little sambuca for four of our ten coffees, the same waiter got annoyed and said he would have put sambuca in the coffee if he’d known, instead of the other way around. There was no cleanliness or courtesy, though the food was decent and the bill was full price. Never again.

I only ate at the restaurant and didn’t stay overnight. The food was nothing special, and the grated cheese was moldy. The place itself was in poor shape: the dining-room ceilings and windows were cracked, moldy and covered in cobwebs. The rooms looked run-down and dirty, and broken bathroom tiles could easily cause an injury.

The food was the one saving grace, simple but good. The rest was disappointing. My room smelled moldy, the wallpaper was dirty and torn or moldy in places, and neither the room nor bathroom was clean. Table service was nonexistent: I sat at a table marked with my room number, still dirty and set up by the previous guest, with their bottle, glass and placemat left there. They didn’t change the tablecloth or bring me a napkin. Maybe the place is being renovated, but I expected more from a three-star hotel. This place has seen better days. I’ve only come across hotels this dirty in France and Belgium.

The staff were kind, which was the only positive. The humidity in our room measured 80°C (164°F) on an app. The other rooms in our group weren’t any better. The bathroom sink drained incredibly slowly, one mirror light was burned out, the toilet cistern was loose, and the bathroom door wouldn’t close. There was no light in the first-floor hallway, and a step right at the entrance was marked only by a note inside. It may once have been a nice hotel, but it’s no longer presentable. I wonder why it’s still open.

The food at lunch was the only thing I can rate positively. The lady and her son, I think I understood, were kind, and I’m writing this review for them. We stopped for one night and came back for lunch at a ceremony. For the five of us, we had to book two rooms because the king, in terms of cleanliness, left a lot to be desired. I’ll spare the details. Breakfast was nowhere near what you’d expect at a three-star hotel, and the garden was unusable. The place shown in the photos simply doesn’t exist. We were charged €25 more than the price we’d been told for lunch and the rooms, and only noticed afterward. We have no idea what it was for. Maybe it was a child’s menu for a one-year-old, which never arrived? It’s a shame about the lunch, because the food was good. In the end, we paid for a three-star hotel but got one star’s worth. I feel sorry for the lady, but they had plenty of time to do maintenance and take care of everything else.
