Villa Margherita

What a shame, because this could be a great destination. The hotel is charming and the people are friendly, but the service is drastically underprepared. For three days, the pools in the lovely spa had cold water. We waited two hours for a very modest dinner in a dining room that was half empty, and the dishes arrived cold. Breakfast lacked quality and imagination, and there wasn't even a minibar in the room. It makes you wonder how they get four stars. In the end, it's just a mediocre hotel.

Casciana Terme made a lovely setting for our romantic weekend, with its greenery, peaceful feel, and beautiful thermal pools right in the town center. At Villa Margherita, the Belle Époque atmosphere feels like stepping back in time. We had dinner by candlelight in an elegant hall, and room 106 was spacious, refined, and all frescoed. The spa is small but very pleasant, with a hot pool, whirlpool tub, sauna, and Turkish bath. My husband even surprised me with a chocolate massage! The staff were excellent and truly kind. Thank you for everything, you deserve the 5 stars.

The town's thermal baths are only 100 meters away and stay open late, even in winter. The hotel has its own spa too. There's no onsite parking, but several spaces are available out front. Our room was quite spacious, with a large bathroom and glass-enclosed shower. My only complaints were the lack of Wi-Fi in the room and the rather small TV.

I bought a Groupon package and stayed with a friend at this lovely hotel in Casciana Terme on July 18, 2015. I've never been happier with a purchase. The staff and the people welcoming guests to the various activities were excellent, as were the cleanliness, bedroom, restaurant, service, and food. I'd read reviews that made me skeptical, but anyone who criticized the place so harshly might want to reconsider and come back. I definitely will.
