We had a very mixed stay over four nights on a work trip. All we wanted was somewhere comfortable and quiet to rest, with decent food, but the restaurant was a real letdown. The food was awful, and even the bread was stale every time. I rarely complain about food, but this was inedible. Since the hotel is quite rural, there aren’t convenient places nearby to eat if you don’t want to use the restaurant. The bar had little in stock, so getting a drink was difficult. Service varied a lot: a young man and woman with curly hair were great, but the rest of the staff made us feel like an inconvenience. The pool and spa were closed, and the hotel had a strange Schitt’s Creek sort of atmosphere. The rooms were clean but basic. The stay might have been fine if the restaurant had been okay.

Opening our room door at around 11:30 pm left me shocked. The bed sheets hadn’t been changed, and rubbish was scattered across the floor and table. I don’t know whether the cleaner failed to do the job properly or the manager missed checking this particular room, but it made me worry about the hotel’s hygiene. Breakfast was the worst European breakfast I’ve ever had. There were no eggs, meat, or fruit, yet they called it a European breakfast. It also seemed as if other groups were given eggs, meat, and fruit, while our group received less. I can’t understand why the management would serve different groups food of such different quality. I was with a tour group of about 49 people.

Internet access was nearly impossible here. The Wi-Fi barely worked, some websites from certain countries were blocked, and there was almost no 4G signal inside, so checking in left you practically cut off. Our double room had just one blanket, which made no sense, and the shower head was broken and wouldn’t stay hung up. Breakfast was poorly handled and there wasn’t enough food. When we tried to take something from the walk-in guests’ food area, staff rudely shooed us away like flies. It was extremely disrespectful. The facilities were terrible, the staff unprofessional, and there was no comfort. Definitely not worth the price.

The location is quaint but takes some travel to reach. The atmosphere is pleasant and the rooms were kept in good condition. If meals had been handled better, I’d have called this a good hotel. We arrived with a group at about 9 pm, and dinner was served at the table from 9:30 until 11:30. Service was so slow and listless that half the group left before the full meal was served. Breakfast was much the same: they served leftovers from the day before and only refilled the buffet when we specifically asked. What bothered me most was that our Indian group seemed to be ignored. Europeans dining in another hall appeared to get much better treatment.
