I came for birdwatching and time by the sea, and Hotel Tirreno suited both well, with the Circeo nature reserve nearby. It’s an easygoing place where runners and cyclists also hang out. Staff were friendly, welcoming and professional, and the housekeepers came daily and were just as welcoming. The Italian breakfast was fresh and fine, the clean beach had an inclusive feel, and the WiFi was strong. There’s plenty of parking, too. Very good value for a three-star hotel. I’d definitely return.

We booked the night before our flight from Fiumicino since it’s only about an hour away, and it worked out perfectly. The sandy beach at sunset had a great vibe, and we could see the sunset and moonrise at the same time. There were lots of families on the beach, but it never felt crowded. The rooms are modern and clean, and parking is free. We didn’t try the food.

The staff were nice and the hotel was clean, but check which side your room faces when booking. Although the listing advertises sea views from all rooms, one side looks toward parking and the other toward the ocean. We thought we’d booked a sea view and got a parking lot view instead, which was very disappointing.

The only small letdown was the bathroom, which could use a renovation. Otherwise, the service was top notch, especially the kind, friendly and very helpful brunette woman with glasses at reception. The hotel is right on the beach, with a sensational sea view from the window in the morning. Breakfast was Italian, with croissants and good coffee.
