Hotel Alla Grotta

The rooms are spacious and have real potential, though they definitely need updating. We found the hotel in Lazise's historic center, right by the marina. The reception, guest bathroom, and restaurant have all been beautifully renovated. Breakfast was excellent and high quality, and the staff were extremely friendly. Paid parking is available nearby, and they let us leave our luggage before check-in and after checkout. Overall, good value for money. We'd gladly return if we get the chance.

Dinner, cooked over the open grill, was simply amazing, and breakfast had something for everyone. We were warmly welcomed, and our room was very comfortable. Our dog was welcome too, and even got a toy. It was our first visit, but definitely not our last. We're already looking forward to coming back!

The hotel is showing its age, though the restaurant staff were the exception to a generally self-focused team. The air conditioning sounded like an old fridge, but had to stay on because it was the only heating. The toilet is almost against the shower, making it awkward to use, and the tiny shower splashed water everywhere. The mattress was awful, like it might suit someone who'd booked a hammock. Breakfast was very good by Italian standards, but service let it down. I was the only guest and still waited for coffee until breakfast was nearly over because the staff had other things to do. The upscale restaurant is very good and has a prime location, with wines available up to €1000, but charging €33 for a "Ladies Cut" without any sides is outrageous. The hotel seems to survive on its spot right at the harbor. I can't imagine what it's like here in summer.

I came for the Lazise Love Run this weekend. The hotel is central and has a lake view, and my room was clean and quiet. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, and the staff made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended!
