TH Lazise - Hotel Parchi del Garda

The beds were clean and the room was a good size, though you could hear through the thin walls. We arrived at 4 and were told dinner was already fully booked. They gave us a list of nearby restaurants, and we found somewhere local. The shower can send water all over the room.

I was staying for a week while working in Verona, and getting to Verona from here was extremely difficult. Unless you're visiting Gardaland, I can't see much reason to choose this location. I would have put that down to my own poor choice of area, but on two evenings we were told, with no advance warning, that the hotel restaurant wouldn't serve dinner. I've never encountered that before. My wife was very unhappy about it.

The pool featured in so much of the advertising, so finding it closed despite the 29°C weather was a real letdown, especially with children. There wasn't much for kids to do anywhere on the resort either, no play area or activities. In spring, I'd say it's better suited to couples wanting a quiet stay than families. We did enjoy several things: breakfast was fresh, varied, and well organized, the resort was very clean and cared for, and our spacious modern room was comfortable. Staff were generally friendly and helpful.

This is a huge, spread-out hotel, and the breakfast buffet has plenty to choose from. In peak season it got so messy it felt like a pigsty. My main frustration was having nowhere to iron clothes. I don't expect an iron in the room, but a room for ironing should be the minimum. People travel from near and far, their clothes are in luggage, and some need pressing.
