Piazzetta Santa Chiara is a picturesque little spot in the old town, with a lovely view of the Church of Santa Chiara. Cafes and restaurants keep it lively, especially in the evening, and it's a nice place to relax and watch the city go by.

The monument to Vittorio Emanuele II of Savoy, a symbol of the newly unified Italy, is what gave the square its present name. It was unveiled on August 24, 1889. The square itself is a typical 19th-century one, created between 1844 and 1846 by clearing several twisting medieval blocks in the "contrada Cocole," opposite the church of Santa Chiara.
There are lots of bars in this little square in Lecce's historic center, and young people hang out there until late at night.
Pleasant little square, and it gets really lively in the evening.
The bars and restaurants keep this cozy little square lively all the time.
