The apartment’s location was the only thing going for it. The unit was filthy, the furniture was mostly broken, the bed was deplorable, and there was mold that really affected us because of our allergies. After many trips to Italy, this was the worst accommodation we’ve encountered. We’ve never felt so cheated or so ignored.

The kitchen looked good and functional, though we didn’t use it. The rest was disappointing. From the photos you might expect something else, but the bathroom was old, dirty, and had a 30cm opening where you had to balance to shower. Its light switch was in the middle of the room, so at night you had to hunt for it, as with the lamp on the left bedside table. The old-generation TV sat high on shelves to the right of the bed, so you had to stand and look at the screen from the side to see properly. We moved it to a lower shelf because we couldn’t see anything. They should get a newer model, which doesn’t cost much these days, especially when it uses an external decoder for internet channels. The bed had old, sagging mattresses, really two mattresses joined by sheets to make a double, and they came apart if you slept in the middle. There were no blankets. Sheet changes cost 25 euros and towels 15 euros, as required by law. Their WhatsApp replies felt like an automatic responder using set phrases, with no flexibility or willingness to help people who had booked for a week. In short, don’t make it out to be something it isn’t.

The city-center location is the one good thing, though you can’t drive in, so each morning and evening you have to search for parking and walk from there. The bathroom was awful, dirty, and so cramped you can barely fit. The shower barely had any water. The sponge mattress on the single bed was so thin it felt like lying on iron. You also have to empty the air-conditioner water from a can yourself. Very disappointing.
