GREEN-HOUSE® B&B Lecce

The little terrace was lovely, and the room was clean, pleasant, and had a fairly comfortable bed. It also came with a TV and minibar, and there was no plastic mattress cover, despite what some earlier reviews said. I booked a single for two work nights in Lecce, but GreenHouse kindly gave me a double business room instead. I had a very pleasant stay. A half-liter bottle of water and perhaps a coffee in the morning would be nice complimentary extras. Shampoo and shower gel in the toiletries would help too. Still, it was a positive experience, and I’d recommend the hotel.

The bed was extremely comfortable, and there was a spacious balcony. The B&B was lovely, clean, and very well kept. Booking and check-in are automated, with the access details sent by email and WhatsApp so you can let yourself in. There’s a kettle, coffee maker, and mini-fridge. Shampoo or shower gel isn’t supplied, and a free coffee and bottle of water would be a nice extra. Even so, I had a great experience and would stay again.

Paying was the worst part. When I asked to use a POS, I was told, “It’s a family-run B&B, so I don’t need a VAT number. You can withdraw money these days.” We had to take out cash. The response made no sense to me: in Italy, a POS is LEGALLY MANDATORY EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE A VAT NUMBER. The owner’s tax code and VAT number are listed on the desk at the end of the price list, so I also felt he was lying. There’s no shampoo or shower gel in the rooms. When I raised it, the owner said neutral hand soap was suitable for hands, body, and hair. I found that absurd, since hair’s pH isn’t the same as the body’s and it can become stringy and brittle. There are no mosquito nets either, so opening the windows to air out the room meant being surrounded by insects and mosquitoes. Water from the minibar is charged, which felt especially unpleasant because every other place we’ve stayed in Lecce provided it, as well as a coffee pod. The basic services are missing, but the bigger issue is the lack of professionalism. I strongly advise against this B&B. Absolutely avoid.

Taking out the key switches off both the air conditioning and the refrigerator, which was the one drawback. Otherwise, the property was excellent and very high-tech, with private uncovered parking. My room was clean, with a little balcony furnished with a table and chairs, and the bathroom was very well maintained. It saved my vacation. I had a great time and would definitely come back.
