The villa and grounds felt safe, and the host was always available and helpful, which made the place feel welcoming. The cozy rooms and kitchen were great, and the ground-floor rooms have private courtyards that are perfect for morning coffee. The pool gets warmed naturally by the sun and was a pleasant place to unwind. I definitely recommend it. Outside, though, there are abandoned houses nearby and hardly anyone on the streets. It can feel a bit gloomy and eerie, almost like living in Twin Peaks.

We mostly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean, and the pool was lovely. The soft acoustic music was a nice touch, and the whole place felt peaceful. The tiny cafe serves orange juice, cafe lecesse, and simple pizza for lunch. San Cataldo wasn't what we expected at all. It's a total ghost town, and we found it pretty creepy. With a hire car, it was fairly easy to get to beaches, Lecce, and Otranto. The service disappointed us a bit: we asked for help booking a car and for advice on beaches and restaurants, but felt let down by the suggestions we got.
