Doria Park Hotel

We found it easy to walk into Lerici from the hotel using the short path, which came in handy when a strong storm made the trip into town harder. Lerici is a fun little place, with a main square and plenty of nice restaurants and gelaterias. This was our second visit, and we enjoyed having comfortable rooms to come back to at the end of each day. We chose Doria Park Hotel after the Europa Grand Hotel changed its room layout and could no longer fit our family of four. Our Deluxe Family Suite had lots of space, with a sofa bed on one side of a half-wall and a big King bed on the other. The beds and linens were very comfortable, the balcony had the lovely view we remembered from Europa three years earlier, and the automatic blinds kept the room dark for sleeping. The bathroom was large, with a great walk-in shower and plenty of counter space. The air conditioning kept the room comfortable throughout our three nights. Parking was easy to find, though the winding road to the entrance was extremely narrow. Staff brought our luggage up the many stairs to the lobby, which was a real help. The front desk was kind, but didn’t make much effort to give us a warm welcome. Breakfast came with the rate, but the dining room filled quickly, and moving around for food while packed elbow-to-elbow wasn’t comfortable. The buffet felt North American in style, which wasn’t really to our taste. We also weren’t keen on paying extra for specialty coffees when other hotels on our trip included them.

We spent a lot of time unwinding with a bottle of wine on the large balcony of our junior suite, at the front corner of the building. The views were remarkable. Getting down to town is a hike, though the back entrance makes it a fairly easy walk, even with all those steps. Breakfast on the terrace was lovely, with the view making it easy to linger. I’d add breakfast to the stay. Our only regret was not booking longer.

We had a special room with a balcony and sea view, which was great, and the breakfast buffet had a nice variety with outdoor seating overlooking the bay. It’s rated three stars, but we felt it deserved four and was much better than other three-star hotels around Lerici. We’ll be back soon!

The balcony view was spectacular, and the rooms were clean and well equipped. Staff were pleasant, the food was top notch, and the hotel has amazing views. I’d definitely recommend it.
