The pool was small but clean and pleasant, though quite a few tiles around it were broken. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Steven, who quickly brought us the frying pan, cutting board and wine opener we asked for. We had no wine glasses, though, and I didn't want to ask again. The kitchen otherwise was very basic, despite having a good-sized fridge. We spent a couple of weeks at Residence Letojanni over spring break. The apartment was spacious enough and mostly met our expectations, with decent wardrobe space. The shower was a little cramped but fine for us. The sheets and towels we were given on arrival were clean and nice, but we had to make the beds ourselves, which I hadn't expected. The place was also extremely dusty. Maybe it hadn't been cleaned since the previous season, or perhaps it got dusty as soon as we arrived. Either way, we bought cleaning supplies and spent some time dealing with it. The biggest disappointment was having no washing machine. Our travel documents mentioned a “washing facility,” but all we had was the kitchen sink. There were two machines outside the main building that looked like they might once have been for shared use, but they seemed to have been broken for years and were covered in dust and leaves. The description also said there'd be a TV, but there wasn't one. We didn't really miss it. Two days before leaving, we found a huge cockroach wandering around the bathroom. That was easily the grossest moment of the stay. Halfway through the holiday, the toilet clogged and wouldn't stop running, flooding half the apartment. Steven sorted it out, but water had soaked into the walls and mold started appearing quickly. By the end, there was quite a smell. We'd been promised unobstructed sea views, but only about 30% of the view from our apartment was sea; the rest was the roof below. We hadn't expected that, but enjoyed our 30% to the fullest. The walls and ceiling were thin, so we could hear everything in the neighboring apartments, including people walking around and moving furniture in the middle of the night. Breakfast was pretty meager, just a croissant, cereal, packaged crackers and cookies. The dishes, cups and tables were quite dirty. We only went once because it wasn't worth the walk up and down the stairs. The lifts were out of order too, so we had to carry our luggage upstairs when we arrived. Good workout, at least.

The noise was the breaking point for us. We were put in the apartment closest to it, and there apparently wasn't anywhere else to move us. The event company's staff partied late after the teenagers had gone to bed, sometimes staying up until 3 a.m. We complained, but nothing changed. Photos showed 15 chairs on their balcony, while each apartment had four. Music was so loud we couldn't sleep during the day or even enjoy sitting outside. The partial sea view was overshadowed, and the balcony was cold by 2 p.m. If we'd been told in advance that an event company would take over the hotel, we'd have asked to stay somewhere else. After four days of sleepless nights and no help from the hotel, we booked another place for our final two nights in Sicily. It cost an extra 107 euros we hadn't budgeted for. When we arrived at Residence Letojanni, nobody was there. We walked around calling out, and the place looked deserted and badly vandalized. We felt unsafe. The online photos showed the damage: broken and raised pool tiles, exposed electrical wires, peeling paint, and balconies that looked unstable and crumbling. The resort was also hard to reach unless you're very fit. We run and paddleboard, but that constant hill would be too much for many people. It was a bank holiday, but we hadn't been told there'd be no one there. There was no restaurant as advertised, so luckily we'd hired a car and could find a shop for food. We gave Loveholidays and the hotel several chances to fix things, but nothing came of it. They offered us another room at the sister hotel, Hotel Peppe, but it had no self-catering facilities or parking for our rental car. We'd already spent about £80 on food, much of which needed refrigeration, so that wouldn't have worked. Instead, they offered breakfast for the rest of our stay, but it was cereal and prepackaged chocolate biscuits. We didn't consider that an acceptable hotel breakfast and turned it down. The next day, a van with ‘Big’ promotions arrived, and some young people began putting out flags on the upper area. With no hotel staff around, we asked what was happening. One person said it was a stage. It turned out to be some kind of teenage Easter camp running until Sunday. They did some 'staging', put chairs around the pool and swept up, but the place still didn't feel remotely safe for guests. The whole trip was nothing like the relaxing adventure we wanted. It was the worst holiday we've ever had. We expected very different accommodation, and there are much nicer places to stay. In our view, the hotel should be closed because it is dangerous and a health and safety nightmare.

It's a pleasant, cool place and very well situated, though arriving at night can be tricky because there aren't enough signs and the roads are in poor condition. The kitchen has just the basics, with no toaster or kettle. Since breakfast is offered, that wasn't really a complaint.

A great place for families, with nice, inclusive animators.

The staff were so friendly, and the view across Toarmina was beautiful.
