Such a dreamy experience, with a fantastic panoramic view!

A peaceful area in April 2026, and a lovely spot for the view.

The setting is uncomfortable, with no shops or services close by, so you need a car for everything and have to drive down to the village. The houses are tiny and poorly made. The view is beautiful, but that's the only redeeming thing, and it doesn't make the cost worthwhile for a place up in the mountains. It seems to be frequented or lived in by what I consider the worst people from Messina, Catania, and Naples. All old.

In summer, this northern suburb of Letojanni feels like a dream. There's little traffic on its broad dead-end road and no smog, and the sea stays clean because there are no sewage outlets. The hill is gentle, with trees and plants putting oxygen into the air. If you want healthy, clean air, like an air purifier, stay for 15 days and detox naturally. When my children were little and didn't have much appetite, I used to bring them to stay at the Tropicana. By the end of the holiday they'd gained just the right amount of weight. Residence Tropicana is only 3 km from Taormina, one of Sicily's best tourist destinations, and there's a cable car there. You can also take trips from Tropicana to Mount Etna, which you can visit by cable car, or to the Alcantara Gorges. A river flows there year-round, starting at Mount Etna and running through the Etna villages, near Naxos, 6 km from Tropicana, before reaching the sea. Castelmola is 2 km from Taormina. It's a tourist center at the highest elevation on the Ionian Riviera, with stunning views over the Sicilian coast. Further north, Sant'Alessio is known for fresh, affordable swordfish, as well as local tuna.
