The village was peaceful and the view was lovely, but the apartment was in such old shape that “old” hardly covers it. We were three people, yet there was only enough cutlery and crockery for two, and the appliances didn’t work properly. The narrow stairs between the bathroom and kitchenette below and the bedroom above felt dangerous. We stayed just one night.

We arrived at 4:45 PM and didn’t get into the room until 8:30 PM. The cleaner kept delaying check-in, saying she had “urgent commitments,” and left us waiting. Once we were finally inside, she gave us a string of nonsensical instructions about the apartment. The bathroom was a mess, so we cleaned it ourselves, and the power kept cutting out even when we weren’t using electrical appliances. She repeatedly banged on the door and called us, then sent a flood of messages after we left, accusing us of leaving the floor dirty even though she was the cleaner and threatening to document everything. We felt awful. ABSOLUTELY AVOID!!

The most upsetting part came when we had to go home the next day because of a serious event. The woman asked us to pay cash for the full week’s tourist tax, without justification and without giving us a receipt. We paid at the time. When we asked about cancelling and getting even a partial refund, she vaguely said she’d spoken to the owner and that we would certainly be reimbursed if they managed to rent the apartment. After what had already happened, that didn’t sound credible, especially as she advised us not to contact Booking because they had already done so. We contacted Booking anyway. Under its rules, it charged us only for the first night we had actually stayed and refunded the rest within a few days. We’re left feeling that guests weren’t treated with respect, and that the accommodation’s condition and location weren’t made clear. We had booked one of the apartments for a week through Booking.com. On the way there, we called the supplied mobile number to say we were travelling and expected to arrive in the afternoon. The woman who answered was rude as soon as she heard we were on the road, saying check-in wasn’t possible before 3 PM. When we said we expected to arrive around 3:30, she told us to call again around 3. We called at 3:15 and were told the apartment wouldn’t be ready before 4:30. When my partner pointed this out, she said she’d try to hurry. She eventually showed up late and took us to a real dump, dirty and with battered, depressing furnishings. The so-called “private parking” was actually open to anyone, and about a ten-minute climb away up very steep stairways.

There’s no peace here. Expect to wait longer than you think before getting into the house, with the cleaner constantly knocking at the door. We were kept out from 4:45 PM until 8:30 PM while she supposedly cleaned, yet the place was filthy when we entered. We had to clean the bathroom ourselves, and the mirrors and floors were dirty too. Everyone was rude, including the woman who greeted us. After we left, she sent threatening messages claiming we’d left everything filthy and that she had documented it, even though we’d left the house cleaner than we found it. Don’t go there. AVOID!!!
