Ghotel Lignano

When my flights home were cancelled last year, I booked two nights here at the last minute. I asked reception for the rate and compared it with booking.com, which was about €5 cheaper. I asked if they would match it, but the receptionist refused. I pointed out that booking online would mean a lower rate for the hotel and a commission of perhaps 15-18%, yet he still wouldn't agree. I wasn't up for arguing, so I booked directly, thinking he might reconsider, but he didn't. I visit Lignano twice every year and will stay elsewhere next time.

We picked this lovely hotel because it was affordable for our large group, and the cosy feel and amenities were a nice surprise. Ivan and Dolores were very welcoming. It's not a five-star place, but I really liked its vintage vibe, the pine trees casting deep shade around the pool, and the charmingly eclectic tiles. Even in August, I often had the pool to myself. The managers are always around if you need anything, whether that's an afternoon coffee, a beer, or advice. The room AC worked well and breakfast was decent. I did miss having scrambled eggs, but you can't have everything. It was a really pleasant stay, and I'll see you again! ❤️

The staff were friendly, and breakfast was okay, but the price felt too high. We couldn't use the pool, which was a shame. There isn't an elevator, so carrying our luggage up the stairs wore us out a bit. The place itself is not bad.

Ivan, the host, was a great guy, and breakfast was okay for a two-star hotel. The price was cheap, but I still wouldn't stay here again even for free. The hotel felt about 30 years out of date, and I haven't had such an unpleasant room in the past 20 years. The furniture was old, the shower stall was the smallest I've ever seen, and I had ants and lots of spider webs for company. What a shame.
