Hotel Columbus

At lunch and dinner, we were charged separately for all drinks, including water, juice, and coffee, even though we had full board. That wasn't clearly explained, and there was no price list on the table. Only breakfast included everything. We've never had that happen at another hotel. The standard/economy rooms are disgraceful for a 4-star hotel. The terrace isn't practical, with nowhere to dry towels, and they even charge for parking on the final day, though you have to leave your room by 10 a.m.

Our fourth-floor room had a balcony facing the ocean, and the location was spectacular. Bellissimo! Since we came in the second week of October, the hotel was fairly quiet. The staff were friendly and really helpful, especially when we had a few small issues at the start of the visit. The price-to-quality ratio was very good, and the hotel had everything we wanted, including a generous, delicious breakfast. Having a garage was a nice extra, particularly with October's strong winds. There are plenty of little shops, tabaccherias, and restaurants nearby, which makes it easy to find what you need. We hope to return in 2025, if the world situation allows.

The beach is right outside, and the location is the main reason I’d recommend this hotel. From the balcony, sunrise is lovely, and the 11th-floor view catches the sunset too, so the cost felt worth it for that. The rooms are only average: our bathroom lock was broken, though they fixed it when we asked, and the floor still seemed dirty after housekeeping. Beach umbrellas are included, but bring or buy your own towels. Breakfast is included, with extra charges for things like omelettes and fried eggs. The 11th-floor pool also costs extra, though you can go to the bar.

The rooftop terrace is well worth a sunset drink, and the beach is close. The dog beach was close for us too. This is a big hotel that seems to be renovated a bit at a time: upper-floor rooms are nice and have large sea-view balconies, while the lower rooms feel older. Staff were all kind and helpful, easily the best part. Breakfast was okay but didn't vary from day to day. We tried dinner there on a few evenings and were pleasantly surprised, with lots of vegetables we liked. In 2023 parking was 10 euros a night, and dogs were 10 euros per dog per night. With three dogs, that added up.
