Hotel Marco Polo

The service was very good.

A nice place.

Dinner at the neighboring Al Ponte was really good, and the hotel is fairly close to the center and beach. Breakfast was disappointing, with little choice and food that didn’t seem fresh. Housekeeping barely felt like cleaning: staff kept knocking or even coming in when we had put up the “do not disturb” sign, without paying attention to the time. I brought my own bikes, but the rental terms seemed absurd: three hours free per day, then €10 an hour, and the room brochure said you couldn’t take them to the beach. In a seaside town, how does that make sense? The place could use an overhaul and more care for guests. For a two-star hotel, it isn’t cheap.

The staff and owner, Mrs. Maribella, were warm and helpful throughout. Giulia deserves a mention too, and everyone was courteous and smiling. The hotel is very clean and bright, with a handy location for the beach, downtown walks, and a nearby Eurospar. Our room had a fridge, safe, and a comfortable balcony with a drying rack. It was spotless, bright, and smelled fresh. The shower was roomy and immaculate. There was no bidet in our bathroom, just a small but functional faucet on the toilet. Friends staying with us did have a bidet, so it may have been a space issue in our room. Breakfast was simple but had a good range of sweet and savory choices, and staff kept an eye on anything running low. The small breakfast room was clean and pleasant, and the coffee machine made lovely cappuccino. It seemed well cared for. For a two-star place, the professionalism, service, cleanliness, and courtesy felt well above expectations. I’d recommend it.
