Hotel Marina Uno

The staff were kind and accommodating, especially the reception girls who let us have a quick cooling swim even though the pool, which closes at 6 pm, was meant to shut soon. I also saw several guests with dogs, so it seems pets are allowed, which is a plus if you’re traveling with one. Still, the stay felt underwhelming. We booked at the last minute and weren’t told the air conditioning was out; we only found out from a notice in the lift. The room itself was nice, but the old shutters were noisy and sometimes made worrying sounds. The lifts were old and noisy too. With the terrace door open at night because the AC was broken, road noise kept us awake. Our room was a couple of floors above the entrance, where there was a lot of noise. Breakfast was poor. The scrambled eggs tasted off, and all the spreads were sub-brand, something I hadn’t experienced at a four-star hotel.

The room was noisy and the toilet smelled awful for four days. I’d booked a superior room, and they only moved us after those four days. When I complained, the young blonde woman at reception was rude and unhelpful. She didn’t apologize and instead said nothing could be done and it wasn’t their fault. I couldn’t believe I was being treated that way. The facilities felt old and smelly or broken, and the food was extremely basic. Some dishes, like the fish and pasta, had almost no taste. Eating at home is better, so don’t bother with the food here. The staff in the dining area also seemed unhappy, took ages to bring things or help, and one man with glasses had a rude, frustrated look and never welcomed anyone. It felt like serving guests was a punishment. There was no respect for customers, not even a little smile or “good morning.” It may look tempting because it costs less than other hotels, but I don’t think it’s worth it. Don’t let it spoil your stay.

The hotel works for a quick night’s sleep and is handy for the beach, but it didn’t feel like a resort. Nothing about it was obviously bad. The Wi-Fi was unusable, though, and breakfast could have been better.

We paid about €350 a night for a suite, but neither of the two air conditioners worked properly. One barely blew air and the other didn’t work at all. The room was over 30 degrees, and I had two adults and three kids with me. It ruined our holiday. Management was awful. They don’t test or maintain the equipment, and when I complained, they just said the previous guests hadn’t complained. Avoid this hotel so it doesn’t ruin your holiday too.
