Marina Azzurra Resort

The beaches are clean and really nice, and Lignano and the people here are lovely. The location is great, and the staff make you feel at home. You can have breakfast and dinner served on your boat if you like.

Staying on the water was a lovely, unusual experience, and the house moving around added to the charm. The staff were very friendly, especially at the restaurant. The room had a strong cleaning-product smell that could do with a lighter fragrance. It also wasn’t cleaned during our three-night stay.

We’ll stay here again. It was quiet and really relaxing, with a large pool and jets. Breakfast was an excellent buffet with lots of choice. On our second morning, the waiter remembered our coffee orders and made sure we got our preferred table. Rooms are cleaned every two days.

Update to our original review, summer 2025: We returned to Marina Azzurra Resort for a week in summer 2025. We can’t recommend either the resort or the ETGroup behind it because of how disappointing and, in the end, unacceptable the guest treatment was. It felt like once they had your money, you were left to fend for yourself. There were several issues. We reported a broken toilet, and it was repaired immediately after our first review went public. That made it seem as though public pressure gets a response. The more serious problem came after we spontaneously added two nights to our stay, from July 18th to July 20th, for €569. A few hours after booking, work reasons meant we couldn’t stay for the extension. We politely asked the resort to cancel those newly booked nights, understanding that it would be up to their goodwill. There was no offer to make an exception or even try to find a solution with us, as we would expect from a 4-star-plus resort. We were simply told nothing could be done because everything went through Booking.com. Booking.com later confirmed in writing that this claim was false. We also sent a written request asking for the matter to be reviewed internally. Within four minutes, Booking.com sent an automated rejection, without any feedback to us. Our separate request to ETGroup has still gone unanswered. Instead, we received new promotional offers, such as dinner upgrades for €30 per person per day. There was sales pressure, but no service. As returning guests, we expected a willingness to talk and some customer focus in a genuine 4-star resort. Convenience and revenue seemed to come first. Our impression is that at Marina Azzurra Resort, you can count on service only when you complain publicly. Otherwise, you’re on your own. That’s not what we expect from a relaxing holiday.
