Residence La Meridiana

A top holiday residence.

The beach is less than 50 meters away, and there’s room there for soccer, beach volleyball, and basketball. The beach restrooms were clean and perfectly adequate. There’s also a pool, though it’s small and really just for a quick cooling dip. Parking isn’t provided, so you need to find a nearby space or be prepared to walk. This was my first stay here. The room we booked looked nothing like the photos on the agency’s website. We got in touch with them right away on the first day, and they helped immediately. We switched apartments that same day, and we’re now absolutely thrilled.

I was meant to stay five days at Merdiana Residence, but after two nights I went home because I simply couldn't sleep. The apartment was tiny, the bed was an extremely uncomfortable old pull-out sofa with a very thin mattress, and the bathroom smelled of sewage when I arrived. I had to ask for help straight away, and the general cleanliness was almost nonexistent. Noise was the main problem. The walls feel like paper, as other tourists have mentioned, so you hear every sound. People slam the entrance doors from as early as six in the morning or when they come back, and the noise echoes down the hall and wakes you. They sound like hand grenades, and the whole glass door to the terrace shakes. With rude neighbors, a holiday becomes a tragedy. The agency blames the caretaker, while the caretaker says this has been going on for years and nobody has fixed it. The tourist is the one who loses out. The terrace shutters only open part of the way, about three quarters. There aren't enough electrical outlets, and the generator kicks in as soon as you switch on an appliance. At 8 a.m., the cleaning ladies tried to get into my apartment because there was no sign showing whether people had entered or left, amid the extreme disorganization at the Unitas agency in Lignano Pineta. When I complained that the noise was ruining my holiday, an employee at the Unitas agency had the nerve to say it had never happened before. But the reviews also mention the paper-thin walls and hearing everything. No one tried to solve the problem by asking tenants to be more considerate. It was a terrible holiday, and if zero stars were an option, I'd gladly give that. I strongly advise against staying here.

The only real plus was the location, just 50 meters from the beach. We spent two weeks in apartment no. 6, and it was a disaster. Everything looked like it came from the 1970s, which wouldn't bother me by itself, but the place hadn't been renovated or cared for. Ants and other insects were everywhere. The shower and sink drains were blocked, and even though the shower itself was nice, it was moldy and unwashed. Naturally, the water wouldn't drain either.
