Hotel Piol

We booked two rooms but ended up sleeping in just one. Not all the rooms have air conditioning. The rooms are old, though fairly clean, and the staff were all very helpful. My English is only good enough for very basic communication.

I stayed one night in August 2020. The room was spacious, and I actually liked the many paintings in the halls and rooms, although some earlier guests found them disturbing. Staff were helpful, even with a small IT issue at checkout. The furnishings were very dated, and the room smelled of smoke. The shower drained so slowly it nearly flooded the bathroom. Breakfast was just coffee, toast, and packaged jams. The value for money felt a bit expensive.

The rooms are small, and my double room was cold the first night because the radiator wasn't working. We reported it, and the following night was already better. Breakfast is a buffet, but the selection is a bit sparse. The hotel restaurant has been closed since 2014. There was a misunderstanding about the rooms at first, but check-in went smoothly after that. The hotel is quaint and a little dated, with paintings that are almost intimidating. Considering the area, it wasn't bad.

The hot and cold snacks were decent, and the staff were friendly enough. Inside, there was no smell of smoke, only a little background noise from the slot machines behind a partition. The place has a modern style, but it wasn't heated very well in January. We had to wear jackets, like the other customers. The water was served ice cold.
