Villa Neri Resort and Spa

Breakfast on the terrace was a real treat, especially the almond granita. Gabriella looked after us so well and nothing seemed like too much trouble. She even packed bottles of ginger ale for our drive to Catania airport when we were leaving. We also had an amazing dinner at the restaurant, with top quality food and service. They wanted us to have a great time and brought complimentary desserts and coffee afterward. Our room was spacious and clean, housekeeping was excellent, and we felt very well looked after.

From the poolside, the view over Mt Etna is amazing. Villa Neri is a beautiful villa in a wonderful setting, and the staff made our stay feel just as special. The spa is included in the price. It has a sauna, Turkish sauna, mini pool with jets, cold shower for after the saunas, and a scented rain-shower. I found it really relaxing. Treatments cost extra but seemed fairly priced, and my back massage felt wonderful and tailored to me. The spa was closed for a few hours because of a technical issue. The staff kept us informed, apologized for the inconvenience, and let us know as soon as it reopened. I can't thank them enough for the care and service.

The pool was spotless, the food was great, and the staff made politeness a priority. Everything was amazingly clean, just impeccable. The location is amazing for seeing mt Etna, and I rate this 5 star resort.

We ate lunch at the restaurant every day, with a good choice of salads and sandwiches, plus wine and cocktails. The evening restaurant is set up around tasting menus, though you can order a la carte from the dishes that make up the menu. On our first night we chose the 7 course tasting menu, which was excellent quality and beautifully presented. There were lots of little treats from the chef, and excellent wine from Villa Neri's own label. On night 3 we came back for a la carte, but extra treats kept arriving, including four lovely glasses of sparkling wine. The room was beautiful, the bed was comfy, and the minibar was stocked. I found the air conditioning a bit odd and couldn't control it. Since it wasn't hot outside, we didn't complain, though clearer instructions on using it would be helpful. I was a little unsure after reading some recent reviews, but we found a beautifully tranquil resort and lovely people who did everything they could to make our 3 night stay as good as possible. The food was some of the most wonderful I've ever eaten. The hotel can feel quiet, which I like. Staff aren't constantly buzzing around, but when I needed something, they were there to make it happen. I'd absolutely return, and probably will. Thanks to all the staff for a fantastic stay.
