Laplage

We came for a wedding at the beginning of June and stayed five nights. The staff were always helpful, happy to suggest restaurants and things to do, and could help arrange tours. Breakfast was lovely, with plenty to choose from, including fresh bread, cakes and croissants each morning. It’s a quiet place to stay, but very handy for the neighborhood: the beach, restaurants, pharmacy, supermarket and bus stop are all a two-minute walk away. For more options and a livelier atmosphere, you can take the bus into the city center. Our room was comfortable, with a nice sea view and a small terrace. The bathroom could use some repairs or improvement, though. Using the shower caused a leak and left a puddle in the room.

We had a wonderful four-day stay at Hotel Amarea in August. The staff were very kind, and our room was great, with a working air conditioner and a sea view facing Stromboli and Panarea.

The rooms are spacious and beautiful, and the staff are incredibly friendly. It feels safe and like a home away from home. The beach is just a block away, so in summer you’re only seconds from getting into the beautiful sea. In winter, it seems like a great place for a digital nomad, with Wi-Fi that works really well. I’d give it 10 stars if I could. An absolute dream of a place to stay.

At 7 pm on our check-in date, they called to say they were overbooked and had to cancel our booking. The amount due had already been blocked on my credit card. We’d arranged a transfer for 7:15 pm, and meanwhile another colleague at the hotel reception was calling to ask why we weren’t already on the transfer. Totally unacceptable. This was probably the worst experience I’ve ever had.
