Three local tastes that stand out: Cacciucco, a hearty fish soup tied to the area's identity; 5 e 5, a well-loved street snack of chickpea cake in bread; and Ponce alla Livornese, a hot, sweet coffee drink with rum and sassolino.

The walk to the port is convenient, which could be useful for an early ferry, but otherwise I’d spend a little more for a place with better materials and a proper deep clean. The accommodation was disappointing. Check-in was simple and the directions were clear, but the family bathroom shower handle had a thick crust of mold on it. I’ve never seen that before. The toilet seat wasn’t attached and slid right off. Like the previous reviewer said, the sheets had holes, so sleeping on top of the covers felt better. The shower drain in the “woman’s” bathroom had what looked like hair from an entire salon. No remote for the A/C was provided, so it couldn’t be used. The door lock was finicky, and it seemed possible to lock yourself inside if you didn’t get the key in just the right position.

The place felt totally uncared for, like they were just trying to make quick money. There were holes in the sheets, the pillow smelled of the previous guest, and the shower had lots of hair. The bathroom door had been smashed and put back badly, so it only opened halfway. Everything was handled through WhatsApp, with no personal service. The air conditioning didn’t work. The mattresses were cheap, and the so-called king-size bed was two beds pushed together, each with a different mattress. I could keep going.
