Hotiday Room Collection - Livorno Mascagni

At Hotiday Leghorn, part of five-star Hotel Palazzo, nothing about our night stood out in a good way. The room was tiny, and the mattress felt ancient, lumpy, and uncomfortable. We also missed the pool because it shut at 7 p.m., even on a bright, late afternoon in mid-July. Save your money and stay away.

We stayed for two nights near the Mascagni Terrace, in a historic building overlooking the sea. It's a luxurious hotel, kept very clean and in excellent shape, though some details do make it feel dated. The rooms are spacious, quiet, comfortable, and well equipped. Staff were professional, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast had a great range of sweet and savory food and was plentiful. You can walk to Livorno's city center from here, and the sea views are excellent. There's a paid spa, plus an outdoor pool in summer. Parking on site costs extra, while there is free parking in front of the hotel. Highly recommended.

The fifth-floor terrace has a stunning view over Piazza Mascagni. Our room was comfortable, the staff were friendly and very helpful, and breakfast was excellent, with quality ingredients. A lovely stay.

The room was nice and, though not especially large and set off to the side, it met the expectations in the booking. Staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was varied and excellent, and the location was very good. We also got an excellent price, probably because it was low season. There were a few issues. The dog supplement is €35 per night, which I find absurd, especially since the small pet welcome kit doesn't justify it. Two rooms ended up booked in my name, although I'd booked and fortunately paid for only one. I'd also completed the requested online check-in, but it hadn't shown up in their system. Hotiday's and/or the hotel's IT process clearly has room for improvement.
