Hotel Montegrande

From the balconies at the back, you can see the mountains in the distance, while the front of the hotel faces a park. Every room has a small balcony, and just down the street there's a fountain with refreshing mountain spring water that's delicious to drink. Bruno, his wife, and their daughter Carmen are wonderful hosts at this quaint family-run hotel and restaurant. Let them know what you need, and they'll help if they can. The town is a quiet, non-touristy mountain village where you can get a feel for everyday Italian life. Montegrande has modern, clean rooms but keeps a rustic old Italian mountain feel. The in-house restaurant is first-class, though they may look at you like you're crazy if you ask for cold milk with breakfast. If you're visiting for 10th Mountain history, Bruno is the owner and a former Alpini who has guided 10th MTN units and veteran groups on tours. He can show you exactly where to hike Riva Ridge and Belvedere, places you won't find otherwise. I spent a lot of time researching where to stay, so take my word for it, this is the place. Can't wait to return.

We really enjoyed our three nights here. The place may seem a little dated at first, but the staff are spectacular and the food is great.

The rooms were comfortable and the food excellent. It's a friendly, well-run hotel, and I'd certainly stay again.
