Villa Cassia Di Baccano Country Residence

The rooms were spacious, clean and welcoming, and the location was a great base for exploring the region. The host was the best I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I can't imagine a more perfect stay in Tuscany. Staying anywhere else would feel like a downgrade.

Having to order breakfast the night before was another downside for me. I understand they do it to avoid food waste, but on holiday I'd rather wake up and pick what I want based on what's there. I wasn't keen on breakfast because the American coffee was cold, probably because the machine wasn't suitable. When I asked, though, they served a wonderful espresso.

We came away feeling very spoiled, and having learned a lot about local cuisine and wines. We were one of just two groups or families staying at the time, and when we booked the restaurant, we were the only couple there that evening. They brought local delicacies and homemade speciality jams as starters, offered us more of the main course, and shared lots of advice about local food and wine. I have a feeling we weren't the first guests to be treated that way.

We had a lovely host, a great breakfast and good wifi, which came in handy when we worked remotely for a day. Our room was beautiful, with a big terrace and a view. There are some good restaurants about a 10-minute drive away. We can highly recommend it!
