B&B La Bohème

The mattress was comfortable, and there were extra blankets and a pillow in the wardrobe. Internet service was poor, though. Breakfast offered scrambled or hard-boiled eggs, toast, cereal, carrot juice, water and various sweets. You need to say how many eggs you want, or they’ll bring one. The coffee choices were the best. The location is great and the staff are wonderful. I’d stay again.

Our room was in what I think was the cheapest category, but it was perfectly fine, very clean and had everything we needed. On a very hot day, the welcome bottle of water was especially nice. The staff were helpful, and even offered to store our luggage until we could get into our longer-stay apartment. We had a lovely first night in Lucca with my partner. The staff were fabulous and put up with my terrible Italian, even though they spoke perfect English. La Boheme is right in the walled city, so getting around on foot is easy. Breakfast was lovely too, with cold cuts, pastries, coffee and eggs, served with a smile and nice conversation. You do have to climb one flight of stairs, though it’s easier than plenty of the stairs around Lucca. I’d recommend it, especially for young couples coming to explore the city.

Breakfast was much better than we expected. There was a typical Italian spread of cold cuts, cheeses, fruit, yogurt and breads, and they were ready to cook eggs if you wanted them. The room had lots of space for our suitcases and was clean. The heat wasn’t working very well, but we were still comfortable enough to sleep, even with outside temperatures in the 40s (Fahrenheit). The king bed was comfortable. We had a lovely one-night stay at La Bohème. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and kept in touch as our stay date got closer. The location was perfect, just a few minutes from a lively square and plenty of restaurants. I’d absolutely recommend this B&B for a trip to Lucca.

Marco, Chiara, and Deborah were so helpful with anything we needed, and gave us great ideas for places to eat and see. We stayed five nights and really enjoyed La Boheme. The room was very comfortable, and the location made it convenient to get around town. Everything was cleaned from top to bottom each day, and the breakfast was amazing. We’d definitely come back.
