Hotel Villa Rinascimento

I wish we’d booked more than one night before heading into Lucca city centre. This place is stunning in person, even more beautiful than the pictures, and the pool area was clean and picturesque. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The woman who checked us in on Saturday, September 30, 2023, also served our dinner that evening after we’d spent the day relaxing by the pool. She was so kind and clearly working hard all day. We watched a gorgeous sunset over dinner, and the pasta dishes were amazing. Next time we’ll definitely stay longer at this little piece of Tuscan heaven.

The setting is beautiful and peaceful, with a lovely pool, an amazing loggia, and views across the Pisan mountains and Lucca hills. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our room was spacious with a nice view. The bathroom was new and looked good, though the bed wasn’t beautiful and the refrigerator was noisy. The wall colors could use reconsidering. Breakfast had a very good, abundant buffet, although the espresso wasn’t exceptional. The tents used for breakfast and dinner don’t feel suitable for a place like this. It would also be nice to be able to order a drink at the pool without going back to the villa. The high-season room rate was steep, and at that price I expected a more luxurious level.

The pool is nice, the staff were kind, the bed was comfortable, and breakfast was good. But our one-night stay came with a lot of problems: there was no electricity or AC, and it rained and thundered while there were no umbrellas for walking from the annex to breakfast. The kitchen had no utensils. The shower water ran very slowly and was cold, as shown in the video. The night was a bit expensive for what we got.

The location and pool are perfect, and the staff are very friendly. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, but they’re noisy enough that we could hear every conversation, cough, and snore from the neighbors. We also hadn’t expected private parties at the hotel, and the loud music really disturbed us. We came hoping for quiet Tuscan nights, so that was disappointing. It would help if guests were told at check-in that rooms can be noisy, and reminded to keep things down in the evenings, maybe after 10 PM.
