Villa Sunrise

The owner was so nice, communication was easy, and the place felt safe and quiet. There’s a large supermarket nearby where you can get anything. I had the single room, which I think is the best in the house, with a spacious bathroom. Breakfast had so many choices that I tried different things every day. Biking around Lucca was lovely, too, with designated bike lanes and no need to worry about cars coming at you.

The free bikes were a huge plus, and getting into the city was quick. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the breakfast was amazing. The owner was nice and helpful throughout our stay. Definitely coming back soon, thanks!

At 11.51 pm, I was stuck looking for a hotel in a remote Italian village after having to call Expedia to cancel my booking. When I arrived, there was no one there, not even ghosts! I’d booked the room through Expedia at 8pm for that same night, only to find in the fine print that the last check-in time was 5.30pm. Why could I book it that late if check-in had already closed? This should not even be listed as a hotel! 🤬😡😡 Update: The B&B owner sent me a text threatening to get me to remove the review. But you missed the part where I said your listing was still available at 8pm for that night, even though your last check-in was 5.30pm. If you can’t take guests after 5.30pm, people shouldn’t be able to book your property for that day!

The owner kindly picked us up from the bus station and offered to take us back when we left. We stayed for the whole Lucca Comics and Games event, and every morning began with a delicious breakfast to fuel us for town. The villa is close enough to walk to the inside of the walls, and it also offers bikes to make getting around easier. Easily the best value for money, and I’d happily stay here again if I’m in Lucca.
