Villa Volpi

We spent ten days here and loved the place. Our room was spacious, the food was amazing, and the views were impeccable. The hotel and gardens are beautiful, especially the infinity pool overlooking the hills, with Lucca in the distance. Every staff member gave great service and went above and beyond for our special requests. We highly recommend Hotel Villa Volpi and will stay here again next time we're in the region.

Manager Marco was rude and deceitful. He tried to put us in several rooms we hadn't booked, and we later learned the room we booked doesn't exist. He made us so uncomfortable that we left.

The view was great, and dinner was nice. I'm fairly sure the woman serving us was the owner's wife. She didn't give us horse. The rooms were another story. The first one didn't look like the photos, and we could hear some interesting activities upstairs. We asked for a different room but still didn't get what we'd paid for. The next room was far away and damp and musty. We were told it was dedicated to the winery, but the wine looked like it hadn't been dusted in over 12 years, and I had to sleep on a camp stretcher. The listing promised good wifi, but it wasn't good.

The view was the only good part. Service was well below average, like a low-budget hotel, and you had to walk around the grounds to find someone to serve you. Dinner was a few simple dishes priced as if they were something special. The red wine I ordered came at air temperature, around 35 degrees. The pool was dirty and had some algae on it. Water and soda were overpriced, especially since there was no other way to get water in the area under the very hot summer sun.
