Torre Imperiale

We left early after finding our ID copies lying open on the unattended front desk around 12:30PM the next day. They had been left there overnight, where anyone could have come in and photographed them. We believe this breached EU/GDPR privacy and data protection laws, and we plan to report it to the appropriate authorities. The hotel refused to refund the nights we didn't use, saying it couldn't do so because we'd booked through booking. When we raised the issue with booking, the hotel said we were leaving because of bad weather and called us liars. We had booked a nearby hotel for the same stay, and can prove the weather had nothing to do with our decision. We feel a refund for the unused nights is justified because the hotel didn't protect our privacy as it was supposed to. That made us change hotels and pay twice. Instead of apologizing or taking responsibility, the hotel acted offended, as if our concern were disrespectful. I wouldn't have written a review before that unprofessional response, but I want to warn other travelers. Without the ID incident, I would've rated the hotel 2-3 stars.

Most of the breakfast had already disappeared by 9am, so you'd better be up early. Still, for a low budget stay with breakfast, I can definitely recommend Hotel Torre Imperiale. The rooms were clean and the service was really kind. In my opinion, it has the best spot in Maccagno. It's only a 2min walk to a bus stop for Luino or to a ferry stop, with boats to almost every city at Lago Maggiore.

I’d happily recommend Hotel Torre Imperialle, and I’m delighted to be staying a few more days. The owners and staff are friendly, polite, cheerful, and helpful. The rooms are beautifully appointed, comfortable, and so clean that I’ve stayed in 5 star hotels that weren’t as clean or comfortable. The views of Lake Maggiore are wonderful, and breakfast has lovely fresh produce. A hairdryer would be useful. Even so, this deserves a 4 star rating. The Australian contingent arrives on Tuesday, and I think they’ll love it too. Thank you Hotel Torre Imperialle.

The view is truly breathtaking, and I loved that they welcome dogs. I have celiac disease, and the breakfast and care I received were as good as they could possibly be. Every request was handled with attention, love, and understanding. I felt like a VIP throughout my holidays and couldn't have asked for anything better.
