The staff were the real highlight, always friendly, helpful, and smiling. The breakfast was simple, as is typical in Italian hotels, but fresh, tasty, and varied. My room was spotless with daily cleaning and fresh towels, and I loved the very hot bath. After a hard day skiing, the small spa with its sauna and jacuzzi was just right. Cristallo is handy for restaurants and shops, with two ski lifts, an ice skating rink, and ski rental nearby. You can hear music because it's central, but it didn't bother me, even as a light sleeper, and I never heard the neighbors. I think it's the best value for money in Madonna. I hope to come back soon.

A really nice place, close to everything, with very friendly staff. The rooms are big enough, and the whole hotel is clean and nicely decorated. If you're driving, parking is right in front of the hotel.

The good points were the amazing location and clean rooms. Otherwise, this was a pretty horrible stay, and I'd call it a two-star hotel at most. Breakfast was seriously lacking. The only hot food was a boiled egg. At 8 am, loud banging from the ground floor made it hard to sleep in. The bedding was awful: just a thin, single white sheet between you and the blankets, which felt unhygienic. In winter, the heating wasn't on consistently, so it was difficult to dry ski clothes when the heaters ran only about 30% of the time. When the hotel was empty, it was fine, but once other guests arrived, peace and quiet disappeared. One night a couple of noisy guests talked so loudly that it felt like they were in our room, and the lack of sound insulation made it literally impossible to sleep.

Imagine having the whole pool to yourself, swimming away your worries right in the middle of the forest. This luxurious place is at Hotel Christello Alta Badia, in South Tyrol. Crazy, right? It's hard to think of a better escape from everyday stress.
