Hotel Astoria - 3stelle S

The garden and pool area was amazing, with olive, lemon and orange trees, plenty of sunbeds whenever we went, and a bar where you could order a drink. Breakfast had a large selection, and dinner was a four-course menu. Our family spent four nights at hotel Astoria. It’s right by the lake, without crowds, and a great base for discovering Lago di Garda. The hotel lends bicycles to guests free of charge, and we rode to Malcesine a few times. Our rooms were comfortable, roomy enough, clean, and had new bathrooms. We recommend staying here.

We were a big family group staying for our wedding at malcesine castle. The hotel helped take the stress out of finding single-occupancy rooms. Several places either said no or never replied, but hotel astoria accommodated us with single, double and twin rooms without any hassle. The staff were a lovely bunch. We had a good laugh with the man and woman from the bar. I think the man was Julio, but I can’t remember the woman’s name, though she was lovely. While we were out on our wedding day, Rachel from reception left a nice note and champagne in our room. It was a lovely surprise when we got back. Our room was very clean, looked fairly new, and had a view over the pool area. It would have been nice to have a kettle, but otherwise it was good. Breakfast was buffet style and faultless; I think dinner could benefit from being a buffet too. The bus stop is outside, and you can buy tickets at the we market shop next door. It’s a four-minute bus ride to malcesine, and the lake is straight across the road. I’d happily return to hotel astoria and hope to see the same staff again. We were so taken with this place, the town and the Garda that we’re already dreaming of coming back. It was one of our most beautiful holidays. Malcesine, the nearby pearl of the area, is lovely, with a picturesque bay and majestic mountains around this part of the lake. The family-run hotel is managed wonderfully. The staff were excellent, friendly and always smiling. The terrace and restaurant were lovely, the coffee delicious, breakfast very tasty, and the dishes at dinner exquisite. There’s also a swimming pool set in a beautiful garden. Special thanks to Mrs. Stella, who captured our hearts.

The lake view from the outdoor terrace was great, and there’s a pool and bar at the back with plenty of space. The bus stop is right outside. My bed felt a bit firm, but the Manager arranged a blanket to go on top of the mattress. It’s a lovely place to stay near Malcesine. The staff were cheerful, helpful and really friendly, and everyone looked after us so well. The hotel has recently been refurbished. Meals were good, and each night we received a printed menu and chose what we wanted for dinner. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay.
