Capofaro Resort

We stayed in a beautiful suite with a huge patio at one of the most amazing resorts I’ve visited. The service was top notch, and they helped with every request. Make sure you do the tasting and vineyard tour, and we also loved going out on their yacht MIKTY. The breakfasts were great, and I’d recommend trying their dinner too. I’d stay here again anytime.

We had a lovely evening with wine from the estate, some really good drinks, and fresh seafood. The place is beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and the staff were courteous and well meaning. My three-star rating is about how service is organized. When you arrive or want to pay, you have to wander around looking for someone who can help. If there’s a reception desk or staff member, it isn’t marked or visible on the way in. Twice during our visit we had to get up and seek attention ourselves. There are plenty of staff ready to help, but they need better coordination so service happens smoothly and on time. Also, come prepared for a generous budget. The prices reflect that this isn’t really a place for casual travelers.

We had a family dinner for 11 on July 17, and we had carefully shared all of my son’s various food allergies with the restaurant well before his order. We repeated them in both English and Italian. Despite that, he had a serious allergic reaction. We don’t know whether his dish contained the allergen or whether it was cross-contamination, but I believe the restaurant was at fault. We ended up in the emergency room on a remote island, which was awful. The restaurant and staff showed a disappointing lack of care, with no follow-up or help. My hunch is that something got mixed up between the serving staff and kitchen. I love the setting and the restaurant, but this let me down, and I don’t think I’ll return. If you have food allergies, please be careful at Capofaro.

A beautiful, clean, well-managed place to stay in the Aeolian Islands. It’s outside the port town of Santa Marina, but transport is easy to access. The restaurant is very good, with friendly staff, and wine tasting is available.
